Apple Berry Crumble

This Apple Berry Crumble with a healthy twist is delicious enough to satisfy even the pickiest sweet-tooth. 

 

Preparation Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 40 minutes

 

Ingredients

Filling

1.5 cups mixed berries

3 apples, chopped

½ cup rapadura sugar

2cm piece of ginger, grated

¼ cup chia seeds

Crumble

¾ cup oats

½ cup almond meal

½ cup rapadura sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup coconut oil, hard (you may need to refrigerate in Summer)

 

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, stir the berries, apples, ginger and sugar for 10 minutes. Stir through the chia seeds, then transfer immediately to a large pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, add the oats, almond meal, rapadura sugar, cinnamon and coconut oil. Rub the coconut oil into the other ingredients.
  4. Sprinkle over the top of the filling.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes in the oven, or until golden brown on top.
  6. Serve alone or with honey-sweetened natural yoghurt.
