How to Freshen Up After Sweating It Out

“But when will I have time to work out?” It’s the same old excuse and everyone has said it! But if you have even half an hour to spare, working out is easy to fit in to any busy schedule. However, if you're planning your exercise regime around work and errands, freshening up after sweating it out is vital. To help you out, here's a few tips and tricks to get you feeling fresh after a hard workout.

Wear the right clothes

This applies to both during your workout and for wherever you're headed next. At the gym, try to wear clothes that aren't too tight or restrictive. Shorts or 3/4 leggings with a loose tee will allow your body to regulate its temperature more easily and reduce sweat and odour. If you have longer hair, make sure you tie it up to keep it off your neck.

Deodorant versus antiperspirant

Many people don't realise that there's actually a big difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant. However, it is important to know how to use each to ensure you keep the sweat at bay! Deodorants kill bacteria and neutralise odours, while antiperspirant, as the name suggests, stops you perspiring. This makes the two a powerful combo. Use the antiperspirant before working out to reduce sweat and then the deodorant afterwards to neutralise odours.

Invest in wet wipes

A shower in one little wipe, this product is a godsend for active individuals. The wipes will add a subtle scent and remove any workout grime so you feel fresh and clean without the need for a shower. Perfect for those on the go!

Post workout pack

If you often exercise in between other errands or work, a small bag of items in your car or your gym bag can really help get you from the gym to the office. The bag should contain items like deodorant, mouthwash, a small face towel, wet wipes, a brush and BB cream (for the ladies!).

Stay hydrated

While exercising, staying hydrated can mean the difference between getting into the office sweaty and smelly and just needing a quick spray and brush of your hair. It is vital to stay hydrated throughout your workout without making yourself feel sick. Small sips throughout the session will make you feel – and look – better!

Shower at work

For those lucky enough, your office may have a bathroom that also has a shower. If you have time, a quick shower in the office can help you feel brand new again! Keep a spare set of clothes and a small towel so you're always prepared.
